Hi, I’m emma lawrence.

It’s my mission to make yoga accessible and fun to everyone, no matter the season of life they are in - kids, teenagers, evergreens; yoga is for you.

I’m a registered yoga teacher (500 hour) with Yoga Alliance with a speciality in Seasonal Yoga, which encourages us to connect with seasonal cycles, as well as our own personal cycles.

Prior to moving to the Cotswolds 10 years ago, we lived in London where my interest in yoga was born. As a professional dancer for many years, I found that yoga was the key in helping my body stay supple, strong fluid and my mind stayed centred. So I decided to take my love for yoga a step up and retrained professionally as a ‘Seasonal Yoga’ teacher. This is my passion and this is what I bring to you and our community in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.

The ‘Seasonal Yoga’ that I specialise in is based on the Vinyassa practices of Seasonal Flow. This ‘Sesaonal Yoga’ focuses on  Asanas (postures), Kriyas (purification techniques), Pranayamas (breathing techniques), Mantra, Anatomy and Physiology, Meditation, the energy systems of the body, Chi Gung and other traditional energy practices.

My promise to you is to teach you practical, beneficial, relaxing and enlivening yoga that works with each of the four seasons of the year.  You’ll be empowered to use the wonderful and time honoured techniques of Yoga to get the most out of each season and your personal seasons.

On a practical level it means that in winter (when it’s cold and day light is short) you will be doing different yoga exercises and embodying different yoga techniques than in summer (with longer daylight and stronger energy flows).

Faced with my own seasonal changes, and how unprepared I and we as a society are for menopause, I qualified as Menopause Yoga teacher under the tutelage of Petra Coveney and have made it somewhat my mission to help and guide other women through this huge change. For more info on my menopause work, click here.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and working with you to get the most out of Seasonal Yoga.

the yoga tree Approach

Expect to come to a class full of other people who are all on their own journey. I currently have people aged between 15 – 80 years and both men and women.

They are there for all sorts of different reasons and will benefit from many different aspects of the class.

Yoga is non-judgmental. If anyone is there to judge, they’re not practising yoga.

If you have any questions, contraindications or needs that you want to discuss ahead of coming to a class or event, get in touch and we can talk about it.
